Hi,

A rather kind avid guitar collector at work last year decided to offload some of his collection and offered me an array of good axes at a very reasonable price. One of which he claimed was a Japanese Strat Silver Series.

It's only been recently when I've decided to sell due it not being the right sound for me I noticed the serial number didn't match that of the 1992-94 production line of the Silver Series. I also noticed the silver series models usually have 'Silver Series' written on the tip of the head stock. I can only presume it's been an honest mistake but the chap in question is usually very knowledgable about these things.

According to the serial number (K029115) it was made at the Fuji-gen Plant, Japan in the Year: 1990 - 1991. I haven't sold it yet but can anyone tell me a bit more about this particular model, I can't seem to find much on the net.

Many thanks

That's a Squier Silver Series Strat?

Can you post some pictures?

Thanks

There isn't any definitive information on the Silver Series on the web.

The "Silver Series" marking is found in the position that the "Contour Body" is typically found on other Strats. I've seen "Silver Series" marked Squiers both with and without the "by Fender" part of the logo.

Some seem to suggest that ALL Squiers made in Japan at that time were part of the Silver Series (because Squier production had moved to Korea by then and so MIJ was a step or two up the quality and price line).

The weird thing about your guitar is the lack of the black outline around the Squier name. If your guitar somehow "lost" that, perhaps it lost the "Silver Series" marking too.

That's all I know.

Hi orvilleowner, thanks very much for the reply. The site I was on after googling it seemed to suggest it was only the 1992-94 models that were part of the Silver Series. Looking at the fender serial numbers, it looks like all models of this veign were made in Japan from 1982-1997.

It looks like the previous owner tried to rub off the Squire logo to try and make it look like an original.

Many thanks
