Greetings, this is my Strat that I bought a while back.
Would like to know a little more about it if possible.
I believe its an made in USA American Standard?

The serial number is: N502038 Which makes it a '90s (1995?) ?
I was wondering about the body, what kind of wood Ash or Alder?
Any other info would be great, here are some pics:

Nice guitar.
Guitar Dater says it's a '95 or '96.
http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx
I'm not sure about those years but I don't think Standards came with locking tuners.

According to The Guitar Dater Project (http://www.guitardaterproject.org), this is what it says:

Guitar Info
Your guitar was made at the
Corona Plant (Fender), USA
in the Year(s): 1995 - 1996

Looking at the locking tuners, bridge, and saddles, I would guess that it's an American Deluxe. Admittedly, though, I can't remember what year Fender started to produce the AmDlx? Man, I wish I has my Strat Chronicals book her at work with me.

At any rate, it's a beautiful guitar, mate! Cheers!

thanks for the quick reply YZF JOE and Stigall.
Do you know what kind of wood the body is made of?

And is there any way to tell if the body is MIA?

I bought the Strat in 2000 (or early 2000) for $500 with hardshell fender case.
I've been playing off and on for 8 years but I still consider myself to be novice. This is the first guitar I bought (used) my only other guitar is an acoustic Fender F65 my grandmother gave me.

thanks again

Pretty sure it's Alder but I'm not good at id'ing wood normally. I also think it's a Deluxe model.

Hi tma73, welcome to the Forum.

Place of manufacture: it says "made in USA" on the headstock. That's a clue. If you take the neck off (if you're comfortable doing that) you will find a date stamped on the end of the neck and there may be one on the body in the neck pocket too. If those dates tally then there is little likelyhood of this being a switched neck: therefore the whole guitar comes outta the Corona factory.

If the tuners are original then I think it has to be an American Deluxe. However, I don't know whether mid-'90s Schaller tuners should have a Fender logo on the locking wheel. I've an idea they should, and if so it means the tuners are a user mod.

Again, not certain about a mid-'90s model, but the other features were also found on US Standards (which got renamed American Series at some point), at any rate a few years later. I mean the two point trem, block saddles, etc. (Someone with better knowledge of the period may be able to say something about the trem block.) So I don't know that we can draw conclusions from the body's appointments...

Essentially, if the tuners are upgrades then you have a US Standard. If they're original it's a Deluxe.

Until someone posts with better information, anyhow... :D

Cheers - C

The 90's Deluxes had the locking turners and a 2 point trem, vintage noiseless pickups. It was available both Ash and Alder and they advertised them as solid tone wood bodies discontinued 2004 when new deluxe came out. From catalog.

Hi cvilleira: you're the man who will know. If original should the tuners have a Fender logo on the wheel?

Also, for my own information can you remind me when the Am Standard got renamed American Series, please?

To me the wood looks more like alder then ash. The tight grain with minimal dark streaks usually typical of alder. Ash tends to have a more open extravagent grain with dark brown or black streaks through it.

Hi paulesteban13, welcome to the Forum.

It would be a good idea to start a new thread for this question ("new topic" button to be found at top and bottom of the page). We're not through ID'ing tma73's Strat on this thread yet.

I think they look like the Deluxe locking tuner caps on there.I dont believe they had the wonkey F. The Amercan series was around 2000.
