Hello fellow strat lovers, I recently acquired this greenish strat body from an antique dealer...its a bit over 4 lbs, and looks fairly abused! Thats all I know..any ideas as to what it could be from?? It looks like a vintage reissue of some sort but I dunno.

Sorry for the bad pictures, I had to use my integrated webcam to take snapshots...we are in the middle of moving and I have no clue where the good camera is

Tough to tell. The pickguard appears to be from a 57 style guitar (8 hole).

The body looks to have been repainted and also, possibly not Fender. The routing is vintage style shallow SSS but that extra routing for pickup wires is a little messy (very clean on all the Vintage Reissues I've seen).

Also, the leftover rubbing compound typical of nitro finished Strats is absent.

yep...I tried my MIM deluxe neck and it fit nicely. Neck pocket measures 2 3/16" across....I hope to get the proper neck to go with this body!

Thanks for your help everyone :D

Look for a 50's Classic re-issue -- the correct neck should be a maple fretboard to match the pickguard. You'll find some nice ones on evil bay.

I will post pics wehn I'm done with it lol....a new neck might look strange so I'll most likely spend the extra to get an authentic "vintage" neck.

Have you measured the spacing of the six trem screw holes?

Tell us (in mm) the distance between the centers of the 2 outermost holes.

I strongly suspect its customshop or vintage reissue with a thinskin finish. I have the same stickers inside my VHR and CS guitars both also have the undercoat showing where the sticker has moved. Also notice the very neat neckpocket and the minimal routing.

Having another look i see wrinkly orangepeel in the paint around where your index finger is. I'd really appreciate a closer look at that when you get chance. I dont think its refinished, it looks like it could be heat damage though not crazing. Also if you get chance a picture of the whole of the neck pocket would be helpfull too.

Yeah, the pictures aren't very good.

And the relicing looks homemade.
