I am a big John Mayer fan, but I unfortunately haven't been able to watch him in concert. Has anyone seen him in concert? If so, how was it?

I actually do own "Where the Light Is", and I like it very much, but that's actually the only dvd I own of John Mayer.

Has anyone seen John Mayer in concert? (Not DVD)

He's got a concert DVD out, doesn't he?

If you "look" around, you can probably find John Mayer concert audio downloads. Have you ever checked out this site?

I saw him last summer, as a part of the Hard Rock Calling festival in London. He played a somewhat short, but still great set. Highlights were Belief, a slow blues rendition of Mercy, Gravity and Crossroads (played encore with the night's main attraction, Eric Clapton).

All in all, a good show. You can find bits and pieces of it on youtube, but the quality is dubious..

I saw him at a blues&roots festival last year. Played many of his more popular songs. I'm not a huge John Mayer fan but his performance was excellent. He does improvise a bit whenever his songs permit.

so, you have NEVER seen him? EVER? in your whole life?

...youtube any of his concert dates. most people uploaded videos of the whole setlist!

I worship JM, and his playing.

4th row at both columbus shows, and 2nd row at cleaveland's show. he sounds exactly like he does on his albums and his playing is about 10x better than on the albums.

unfortunatly for you, he will not tour or perform this year, except at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Fest 2009, due to the work he is putting into his new album, Battle Studies.

there you have it.

This is confusing. What is it that you want to know about a John Mayer concert?

I want to know if he's actually AMAZING. I don't live in the United States, so I doubt that I would have a chance to see him for a while. I know that Where the Light Is and Any Given Thursday are incredible performances, but that's only two concerts out of hundreds he has.

In that case, you simply MUST download a couple of his concerts.

His little between-song chats are quite amusing.

I've never seen Mayer in person, but a good friend of mine is totally nuts for him and went to see him in Edmonton last year. He came back with mixed emotions: the songs were good, he said, but he only played 14 of them. Take from that what you will, but I'd be livid if I payed $100 or so to see a band and they only played 14 songs.
