I'm not gonna bother quoting because it is gonna be huge...

Add Michael Romeo (Symphony X) to the new-generation list. He has the best features of Malmsteen, Rhoads, Holdsworth, and a bunch of other guys mixed with his own ability. The Paradise Lost album is easily one of the best metal albums created in the 2000's (not really saying much). The album gets pretty heavy but there is no denying Romeo has that epic spark in his playing.
