Yes, it is a nice guitar but my daughter has laid claim to it! It's been at her house for the last year or more. :(
I've been told by my tech. that it has a 57 ri neck on it.

Thats just one of those things we do for our kids and it don't matter how old they get we are always doing. The day that I cant do that is the day that scares me.

Lovely - same colour as mine - only difference is mine has the serial and "made in japan" on the bottom of the neck, and has the 50s decal.

Mine is also a bit more, um, "road worn" than that beauty!

The System 1, 2, and 3 refers to the Kahler bridge/tremolo system on the Contemporary Strats, all of which were '84-'87 E-series. The Contemporaries all came with these Kahler bridge/trems. All had rosewood boards with a 12" radius and painted (black) necks and headstocks. All had the TBX System. The TBX had only one tone pot. They had all sorts of pup configurations, including a single bridge humbucker...SSS, HSS, HH, HSH, H, etc.

I believe there were E-series MIJs of that era that were not Contemporaries. These may or may not have been available in the US. Further there could have been different styles of Contemporaries that never went to the US.

Then I believe I would have a model that never made it to america, as i have a system 1, with maple neck, 1 volume 2 tone. I'd post pics but I do not have them hosted.

This site may help you on your guitar info. It is a long page but right near the bottom he explains about MIJ strats. Hope it helps!
