have any of you guys ever sanded off your finish and just had a natural/ wood stained finish? especially for alder because i was thinking about doing this because they have some guitars at the store that are about 200 dollars cheaper just cause they're test models but i don't like the color. also have any of you ever tried to refinish your guitar with nitro? if you have any natural finish pics please share.

You can buy unfinished bodies from a lot of the authorized parts dealers like Warmouth.

Thanks, both of you. It really is a lovely guitar.

I don't have a pic of a natural alder, sorry. I know that if you want that color of wood, ash is a nice choice for natural because of the prnounced grain. You can check Warmoth's site for lots of pics, though...

gratz, I did the electronics myself. It's wired with a master volume, master tone and a blender pot, and it completely kills... the most versatile Strat I've ever played.

Dear harmonicchaos:

Don't sand off the finish!!

I bought a brand new Tele in 1976 before the natural look was back in style. It was blonde with a black pickguard and ashtray pickup cover.
I had to have a natural look, used paint remover ands anded it down to the wood. If I had not done this the guitar would be worth thousands more than it is now.
Keep the original body, by an after market from Warmouth and when you ever should need to you can still retain or present the guitar as all orginal some 30 years later simply by putting the original body back on.
The after market cost would be greatly out weighed by the total value of the all original.
