I'm headed for the local guitar store tomorrow and one of the Strats I'm considering is a Classic Player 50's. How much of this model is American parts-wise?... Also, my music of preference is classic rock, Tom Petty kinda stuff. Is this an appropriate choice for classic rock or should I be considering the CP 60's Strat?... Only drawback with the CP 60s is that I prefer a maple neck and I believe the CP 60's are rosewood necks only...

From everything I've read here, it sounds like CP models are quality Strats ...

dont hold me to this but i belive that the eletronics and the bridge are usa the rest mim but all that aside a 50s style maple neck strat will be great for classic rock like petty tom plays a lot of maple neck teles and strats live
and if im right the 60s has the same pups as the 50s none the less good tone for classic rock

It has an american neck and american pickups. I'm not sure about the bridge, but it's the two point that is on the americans with vintage style bent steel saddles. It also has locking tuners!
The neck is awsome!
This is a classic rock monster. Get it now!

The only quirk on this partucular guitar is that they have it wired so that the normal Neck+Middle position is actually Neck+Bridge. This is a neat custom feature, but the Neck+Middle is my favorite position, so I changed it around to standard wiring and put in a push-pull pot to get the Neck+Middle (or all three). Just thought you should be aware.
