$400 isn't too outrageous. Depending on condition.

Is that an MIM or MIA? What is the serial number on that guitar?

I dont know that there arent both MIA and MIM 57 RIs from 1998. If there are, the values could be very different.

I just did a quick Google scan for 1998 57 Reissue Strats and found several for sale, priced at $1000-$1600. I assume these are American made. These dont appear to be auctions, but could still indicated the high-side of a ballpark price.

If its a Mexican made guitar, your $400-$500 price would be in the ballpark, based on typical price relationships between MIAs and MIMs.

I havent done much work on pricing Mexican Strats, but my experience (for what its worth) suggests to me that your MIM, stock and used, is probably $275-$350.

Could be wrong....So all you MIM freaks can restrain your impulse to defend your guitar.....

Right now, there are 5 auctions for MIMs that end today.

Of these, 4 guitars have minimum prices of $350, $299, $369 and $349. None of these four guitars currently have a single bid. NONE. The first one is a 1999 MIM Standard in "Mint" condition and it has 59 minutes remaining....not a single bid. Somebody might try to slip in at the final second and take it for $350. The point is the same....not a lot of bidding competition for MIMs at $300+.

If I was a economist and Wall Street analyst, and my job was literally to determine the proper price of a thing....I'd say this market is telling us that these MIMs are not worth much more than $300 right now.

I know a lot of guys hate it when I provide this type of insite, but the facts are the facts.....the MIMs just arent worth very much. Forgive me all you MIM crazy's. Feel free to pay as much as you want.
