Although I wouldn't say it was Fender inspired...to me it's more of a SG inspired guitar.

Thats what I was thinkin'.

I'd like to take that ultra-pointy body and shove it right in the eye of whoever came up with this totally original and unique lame idea. That being said, since it has the name Gibson on it, there will probably be 350 bright souls with a desire to blow their money on something that, to its credit, looks different, but sounds prob just like an SG standard (and of course costs more).

i think they meant it was a 'fenderised' SG.

I would say more an Ibanez'ed up SG, but I think its the same kind of vibe the -osonic fenders were looking for. Or maybe the kind of rockabilly-cool groove the SoCal so miserably failed at.

Clearly based on the SG model. Look at the pick gaurd. It looks like Batman's guitar.

The pick guard simply makes me want to gag.

...makes you wonder if the Gibson fans make fun of Fender's newer stuff

Gibson fans are way harder on Gibson than Fender fans are.

It is fender "inspired" by the fact that the horns on this guitar are a bit bigger than the normal SG ones. They are closer to the size of the strat cutaways.

Wow--almost 3 pages, and finally someone actually explains the Fenderish-ness of it--but I still don't see it--elongated SG? Yes.
Pointy Strat? No. Pickup wise it's still a Gibson.

I think it looks plastic--and would have done well back in the plastic era of the early 80's before superstrats came around.

I kinda don't like it... Is that the only color it comes in? Pumkin?

Is that a pair of pants from Elvis Presley's wardrobe or a pickguard? :D

If you notice the upper horn is longer than the lower, it looks more like a jackson/ibanez/strat knock off, more than an sg- where the horns are nearly Identical proportion on a traditional shaped sg. Notice how forum users are slagging it more on there site- and more harsh than we are with fenders lol

It does look plastic as you say-
At least with the SoCal we all knew where the inspiration for that idea came from. For Gibson to come up with a guitar like that, especially the failed attempts in the past, they should really stick to what they're good at, or at least leave it to Epiphone to take on such a guitar...

I wouldn't say its Fender inspired either. Looks like a thin bodied SG with lengthened and sharpened horns.

Its quite unattractive but cool at the same time. Kind of like the way some Eastwood guitars are so ugly they're actually pretty cool. Hard to explain.

I think it's awesome. It's like the evolution of the SG although there will only be 350 made. As an SG owner, I would love one of these guitars.

It's also going to be worth a small fortune in years to come becasue of it's exclusivity.

I learned to play on an SG, and my current #1 is a Gib LP, so I am open to anything Gibson. Other than one horn being longer than the other, I dont see any fender inspiration. C'mon its got 2 covered humbuckers!
