Good point Brett BUT, I understand RW as a different process than a "relic" from the custom shop... The way it was explained to me by the folks at guitar center today, (the salesman I spoke with told me) that the notches and worn spots are all in identical places on the road worn... that the process is "automated".
I must admit I liked the RW sunburst strat I played... but I prefer the white (which they didn't have at the location I was at).

Oh yeah, I totally noticed that, all the wear spots were the same, still, RW's really do feel nice, just comfortable. I like that beacuse then you can concentrate on playing vs. worrying about the guitar itself

It's nice to see Road Worn getting some love. And how about those fine Tex Mex pickups??

The Tex-Mex pickups are good, not great. Better than MIM standard pickups IMHO. They wired pretty hot (8.5k) and get real gritty pretty easily. This helps attain the Texas Blues sounds at lower gain settings.

An alternative would be the USA Texas Specials. They are not as hot (6.5K) and offer better clarity. At higher volumes, they really sing.

This is the only upgrade I would make to this guitar. I'm sure the guys at Fender thought about it, but it probably came down to pricepoint.

If RWs were sold with Texas Specials installed, they would easilly break the $1000 barrier.

Price point :!: They put pickups that retail themselfs for 84.00 into a guitar thats MIM and going to be sold for 950.00 I would love to have someone tell me what makes this so much more then say a MiM Deluxe fat Strat, MIM Deluxe Roadhouse or Lonestar, You can get them all for like 750.00 not even that most times or get a Kenny Wayne for 850.00

I sorry I am not saying its a bad guitar but 950.00 for me not a chance for a fake worn out looking guitar.
iknow allgood guitars are over priced

Well there not bad guitar but they are not made of the better peices either so I guess we are just paying the extra 300.00 for someone to run the machine to wear the finish off that they apply even less of anyway. Me I would go with a Deluxe Roadhouse and get the tinted neck and the Texas Specials for more then 200.00 less.

The whole Roadworn thing is just I don't no, and like everyone will tell ya, You Either Love them or You Hate Them.
I am not on the Hate Them side because I would not mind adding one to the Family but not for over 650.00 there is just better to be had in the 950.00 range

Not worth that kind of coin to me. They all look pretty much worn in the same places the same way. Like a pair of pre worn out jeans. The fingerboard looks pretty fake worn too. I wasn't impressed with the couple I tried.

Those RW look like crap and are overpriced; I'll do my own 'natural' relicing, thank you. Different strokes for different folks, as Sly would say.

Welcome to the forum, koocho! I'm glad you enjoy your new guitar, but please take the following in the spirit in which it is offered:

Yes :D Since you are new to computers, might I suggest that there is a button on the right side of your keyboard that says "caps lock"

when you type in all caps, it LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE SHOUTING

Another thing is to break up your paragragh with spaces. It makes it easier to read. :D

Good luck with that new guitar :D

Sooo...
the appeal of the Roadworn series is that its relic'd but surely we would rather buy one Strat and watch it grow old with you...

Relic guitars are guitars with individual identity, each scratch on it is like a freckle on our faces its personal to the individual,

Roadworn however is a Army of smoothly relic'd Copies the fading through the layers isnt gradual...its just Finish-Naked within a fine area instead of gradual degradation of the coating, paint, primer and such...

Anyway much love to all the Noodlers...

Best wishes to the rest :D

Its all good. Just having some fun.

I can't say about the Japan one, I've never tried one, but I'd bet it's a great ax, Japan has a good rep. :D

Take for example the Japanese Jacksons. Superb in my book :D

( I wish there were more emoticans) 8)
