I am buying a MIM strat body and I want to put a tele neck. Is the tele neck 2 3/16ths of an inch and able to fit?

I haven't done anything like this in years, but you should realize the end of a tele neck is shaped different. Unlike a strat who's neck end is curved as is the mating surface of strat body pocket, a tele neck end is square. As i recall i had to mod the pocket to fit a tele neck to a strat body. Or it may have been the other way around, but in any case beware.

This is what the Warmoth site says and I have found this to be true on a past occassion.

Quote
The heel shape of Strat® necks is rounded at the end, Teles® are squared. Strat® necks will fit Tele bodies but show a gap at the corners. Tele necks may not intonate on a Strat® body without neck pocket modification. End Quote

Exactly right.

Only thing to add to that: I've heard of people reshaping the Tele neck heel to fit it snugly into a Strat neck pocket and make it intonate properly, as an alternative to reshaping the pocket itself.

Either way, material needs to be removed around the corners. The correct intonation length is achieved when the center of the heel touches the center of the pocket.

Tele headstock on a Strat. It's a look, I s'pose...

Cheers - C
