I've played quite a few Roadworn's in different stores and I like the way they feel. Some people in here are against them, some are for them...personally, I like them myself (Relics and Roadworns). I'm not gentle with guitars...I play them and I play them hard.

I honestly haven't noticed bad quality in any of the ones I've played.

Play the guitars at your local musical instrument store and buy it where you find it the most trustworthy and affordable. Buy the one you find nothing wrong with, and you never have to do "tinkering".

I'm absolutly NOT into reliced guitars at all. But i must say the RW i tried at GC was more resonant than just about any strat i've ever played. Can't figure why, and i know it's not the lack of finish because i've had several bare strats that weren't near as resonant.

You really need to see a Road Worn in person. The attention to detail on those is astounding. I personally wouldn't buy one, I'm also not into the relic look, but the quality is impresive.

The short answer is no, it does not feel or sound like a MIM Standard. It doesn't feel or sound like a new MIA Standard either. It looks, feels, and sounds pretty much like Fender designed it to: a Strat built to 60's specs and worn down to a level that emits a vibe that emerges only after reaching that amount of wear; a level of wear that most of us will never reach (or may not want to reach) with our modern guitars.

Go to your local music shop and play it back to back with a bunch of other strats, then decide for yourself.

FWIW, these days, I always grab my RW 60's sunburst before my PRS cu22! It's just so damn funky and fun to play!
