I've been having problems with my Strat as of late...the high E string keeps breaking faster than usual! About a week and a half ago it broke after some heavy bending (not so unusual) and i had another set of strings so i just put on that one string, since i'm lazy. Today I was playing Hotel California and got to a normal whole-step bend on the high-E and it broke! It seems like i just put the string on, and all the other ones are fine! I don't play too ridiculously much, and they have never broken this frequently! It appears to have broken at the saddle both times; Should i get graphite saddles or something? :?:  :?:

Sounds like you may have a burr on the saddle. 10 seconds lightly with a fine file around the top of the saddle should sort it. If in doubt use a ladies cardboard nail file.

Check the saddle for burrs or sharpness anywhere the string touches. Gently file it smooth if you find any.

A wee bit of graphite may help as well--just a tiny bit.

It could be the brand of strings. I used to play Ernie Ball Slinkys but kept breaking the E string as well, switched to GHS and they were a bit better. Finally tried a set of Dean Markley Blue Steels and haven't had one break yet. BTW, I play 10-46's on my Strat and 11-52's on my Tele and I change my strings about every other month and play in a worship band weekly.
