I have a 40th anniversary strat that means the world to me and the other day i went up a size in strings to 11's . Well today i adjusted it just a hair and it wouldn't turn, it kept on slipping. When ever i adjust the truss rod do i need to loosen the strings alittle?

I'm just wanting someone to tell me what a guitar does when the truss rod breaks. It's staying in tune fine, i was thinking my allen wrench might need replacing.

But could someone please ease my mine alittle.

THANKS SO MUCH

JEFF

Hi tennman316: I thought it had been well established for you that you need to slacken your strings before making adjustments back in early February on this truly bizarre thread?

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... c&start=15

One of the few morsels of correct information on that whole thread: a highly entertaining read for anyone as can be bothered...

If your allen key needs replacing it will be perfectly obvious to the eye from the mangled end of it.

After that other thread I'm not even going to try to diagnose your trussrod issues over the internet. Get that guitar to a proper tech, have it set up nicely if it is not already wrecked - and then concentrate on playing it, not tinkering with it.

Companionably intended advice: but I doubt it'll be taken...

Good luck - C
