Thougt I would share:

Saturday while I was getting paid $27 an hour to do nothing except play guitar (that's not what I do for a living, but nobody was around). I stumbled across something new, to me anyway. Our comppany uses Nextel handhelds, so while I was jammin out some good old fashioned blues, one of my drivers calls in on my radio, which, do to how I was sitting was right next to the pickups, well lo and behold the voice sound that comes screaming out the amp is pretty cool, think I'll play around with it some more. Just thought I'd throw that out there! Peace......

Just out of curiousity, do you have a MIM standard with the ceramic pickups?

I have two, one in Midnight Wine and the other with the TWo Tone Burst.

I thought so. There was a bunnch of discussion (probably over a year ago) how the MIM std ceramic pickups have microphone capabilities. People were posting info on how screaming into the pickup would come out throught the amp. That led to some heated discussion over whether this was an indication of a good or a bad pup property.

PS - It sounds like you have two nice guitars.

I think that microphonic pickups are cool, but limited in their effect. If my own guitars started to display traits of microphonic pickups, I'd probably change them out. On the other hand, if I spent my nights playing searing metal instead of blues, rock & country, I'd reconsider. I know Neil Young's "Old Black" has a microphonic Gibson mini-humbucker in the bridge position that he can get some pretty wild sounds from. In my mind though, it's more hassle than it's worth.
