I have a Left handed '98 MIA Strat. It's got the 2 point syncro bride and cast saddles. I'm not sure if it's me or if the trem block on this thing is actually made of hardened plastic. Has anyone else seen something like this? I like to upgrade the block (saddles, etc.), but Callaham only does lefties as a special order (read: money, money, money).

Any advice out there?

Throw the plastic block in the garbage where it belongs.

Hello LobsterSausage,

If it's factory it's not plastic.
It's cast steel coated with a
thick epoxy finish, I thought the
same thing last year when I had a
strat apart. A few strokes with a file
set my mind at ease.

Cheers.

Yeah, I took a real hard close look at it and found, upon scratching at it with a screw driver, that it was, in fact, metal (there should be quotation marks around "metal"). I'm trying to find an upgrade that doesn't hurt my wallet and fits my guitar. Seems my year of strat isn't exactly popular or "vintage". :-)

Wilkinson make a strat bridge with steel block for not much mooney at all. Good reviews too.

I strongly disagree. Plastics should be thrown in the recycling bin.
