Hi, new on the forum.
I've always loved Strats with the big dramatic headstock. I know pre-CBS models are praised but the big headstock models were the ones made in the late 60's and 70's - those are the guitars played by Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, Jeff Beck and many others. Too me they represent the golden age of rock music.

Plus, they look better.

I would love to see more options - weather its a American or Mexican Deluxe, Vintage Hot Rod, Highway 1 or any other Fender line.

Who's with me? 8)

Welcome to the Fender Lounge!

CBS - the famous company. They bought Fender in 1965 from Leo and have done mostly bad...

They've done only one very good thing which is: the large headstock :)... I would love to see it on more models.

Actually I'm pretty sure that CBS kept a few models running or reissued a few models with the common headstock. There are early 80's models with the old headstock.

I'd love to see more Fenders based on the Blackmore signature model or the Jimi Hendrix models... they are my favorite Strat players and when I think of a Strat I think of the one they held in their hands.

it's funny....even though I started playing in the big headstock era, I prefer the smaller pre-cbs style.

Guess there's "no accountin for taste".

The only 70's era strat I ever really liked was 1979's 25th Anniversary model. It's a beaut in Porche Silver. I still plan on owning one someday.

Everybody's entitled to their opinion & mine is NO THANKS!!
That big hunk of wood throws off the beautiful balance of the Strat.
It's only my opinion, but I think the big headstock was just a wrong turn
on the road to guitar nirvana.

I don't really care one way or the other for the big headstocks.

CBS did do some good for Fender; the reverb on silverface amps sounds better than that of blackface amplifiers because of the CBS circuit.

Love the big headstocks. They feel perfect to me. I don't own a strat without the big headstock.

I think they are ugly... I prefer the "normal" headstock!

The Big Headstock Stratocaster only looks cool in Jimi's hands.
I once owned a Voodoo Strat (righthanded body & lefthanded neck with
big headstock) looked cool too.
Prefer the pre CBS headstock on my ''made in Mexico'' '60s classic series
Stratocaster.

But it's in the eye of the beholder.
