Just wondering if anybody knows of any really good, intermediate to advanced Blues Guitar Instruction programs. I take lessons every week with an instructor but I was also looking for something to work on, on my own at home. I am looking for something a little more advanced because I know the pentatonic and blues scales and I don't need somebody going through those again. I have heard of Stevie Snacks and Justin Guitar and they seem really good. Has anybody tried Stevie Snacks? I had the Blues Guitar Secrets and went through that already but it seemed more of a beginner course.

Any advice?
Thanks

I agree with The Freeze...........Blues you can use is a very good set of instruction...makes it fun too and that is the key...the more fun you have with it the longer you spend working on it....

Stevie snacks rocks.

But my #1 recommendation would be to listen to it as much as you possibly can. Youtube is free, just type in the name of your favorite blues guitarists and watch and learn.

You, sir, are awesome! :)
Great post!

I bought my strat in '97 because of SRV.
Except that I gave up learning SRV because it was too hard!

I think Johnny Lang's "Lie to me" album is what I learned on from the VERY beginning. After a couple years I was finally able to takle SRV!

Re: the topic: I have no idea because I learned by ear with no instruction (a very painful and loooong process)!

Of all the Stevie Snacks DVD's which one would you guys recommend? The 5 box patterns, the box pattern licks, the slow blues shuffle etc.?

Thanks

Keep in mind, you're paying for these lessons. You should ask your teacher to incorporate some blues techniques into your regular lessons. That way you can learn two things at once.

When I took lessons, my teacher used to slip in a lot of jazz techniques. It worked out well.

+1 on Blues You Can Use.

Also check out http://www.swingblues.com/. I think this one is better. Has better explainations and dives into more detail. I'm about 1/2 through this one right now.

If I decide on Blues You Can Use, would I be fine going right into....More Blues You Can Use?
The reason I ask is because I take lessons every week and I know the minor pentatonic, blues scales and chords but I'm looking for a more advanced Blues Instruction. Would I be lost if I went straight in MBYCU or would I be okay?
