Does anybody here have the Fender Blues Junior amp? What do you think about it? What do you like and not like? I know it's only 15 watts but is that enough power to gig with or jam with a drummer with? I wonder why there is no standby switch considering it is an all tube amp???

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This should be in modern amps section...

I have a blues Jr and so does my brother...
Mine is tolex & my brothers' is the tweed...
they are a little different from each other (not the same speaker).
I like the sound of my brothers better than mine...

It is a great amp, although I do not often use it to play with a drummer, it can be used to gig with but you might want to mic it up depending on the room.
I mainly use it for recording, I crank it and push the tubes but it doesn't crush the mic... best thing to do is play through it yourself to see if you like it. It is a very basic amp... (not alot of channels and so on)
I am destin to do some MoD's on mine, maybe put in a different speaker or even change the tubes I am using in it.
My bro's SRV strat sounds awesome through it.

I don't think 15 watts is enough to jam with a band ... I would look in the higher than 50 watts for that.... personally I'd look for a 80 watt or 100 watt one but hey it also depends on your band's absolute volume level :)

Used my blues jr for gigs and rehearsalls. 15watts is plenty, i only needed to take mine up to 4 on the master.
Intresting page dispelling amp myths.
http://www.guitarnuts.com/amps/myths.php

I find 15watts too much for home and struggle to keep down a 5watt amp. How did i ever manage 2, 100watt marshalls at the same time in my bedroom???

I have a Blues Jr. that I use exclusively with my band, in fact at our last practice I had the Master at 12 and the volume at 5 and was asked by my drummer and our bass player to tone it down a little. I think its fine for band use and if you're gonna be playing any larger venues then mic it up! I love my BJr.

A blues junior has one channel. The F.A.T. switch is not a second channel. It is a volume and slight gain boost, that is all.

There is not a need for 50 tube watts for a regular band. There is little volume gain in between 40 and 100 watts. There is more headroom but not double the volume.

Tube watts and SS watts are two completely different numbers. Not apples to apples by any means.

This should not be in the Stratocaster section. There is also no need for posting a thread numerous times across different sections of the forum. This is against forum rules and clutters the forums, and wastes bandwidth.

As said in the link i posted theres minimal perceived volume between 15&50 watt amps, especialy on smaller venues. You can hear the difference between a 50 watt and a 100 watt amp if your playing a stadium. Those 100 watt amps were designed for pete townsend and folks of his ilk when super multi-channeled pa systems were'nt invented and they had to hit the back of madison square gardens or some similar place. The same is true of the 15/50 watt scenario in smaller venues. Either way theres no need for them in a rehearsall room or a gig situation these days. Clapton manages to gig with a 57 twin, prime example of a low wattage amp satisfying thousands.
Love my 100watt marshalls, i refuse to sell them. They never get used anymore though. 15 watts is a great amp as an onstage monitor and when positiond right will keep up with any drummer.

Yes the Blues Junior is a very good amp. Dont let the 15 whatts fool you. it's enought for playing a gig, jaming or playing around the house. go to your local music store and test drive one.

And if you ever did need more volume for some strange reason you could run it through a 2x12.

As long as you aren't trying to play totally clean this amp should be fine... its great for overdriving blues with some breakup.

The reviews I read (harmonycentral.com I think) say that the tweed NOS version is way better than the stock one.

Its a great amp! I almost bought one, but the 15watts was just too much for my 10' x 12' practice room, and as most know tubers sound best at higher volumes. I currently have my eye on a blackheart 5watt half stack, but dred the thought of having to buy effects for it.

15 watts of tube amp is loud! I have a 30 watt tube amp, and I can't think of a case where I'd want/need something louder.
