Hi everybody, I finally got me a used brown sunburst strat MIM, it is beautifull and I only paid $200.00 including an SKB hard case, what a lucky man I am yeah.
Now can anybody tell what type of strings I should use, specially for lead/ bending, I have it set up with D'Addario EXL 110 but I feel they're a little hard.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks 8)

Welcome to the forum! Why not try a set of Fender 9 gauge? Probably what it came with new. Congratulations on the purchase!

Try the same gauge Slinkys and see if it's any easier. It should.

Hi, Giovannidepaz, are you from Italy..??
On my MIM ( 2000 sunburst..) I have fitted the D'addario EXL 120, and I like it so much, those strings are so soft....
You can try......
Bye..

yeah, well why shouldn't we? :p
i think my MIM is just as good as my friends MIA, only difference is the 22 fret thing, and that doesn't bother me so much to be honest..
i think it's time for these "MIM strats are crap" myths to be busted..

String tension is not only affected by the thickness or gauge of the string, but by the way it breaks over the bridge saddle. If you have your saddles set high, the break over angle is greater, increasing string tension. Set up your guitar so the bridge saddles are very low to the trem base plate. Don't let the saddles rest on the trem plate tho as it will vary the coupling on the saddles that rest on it (usually hi and lo E). The tone is a little different if the saddles are lying flat on the base plate as opposed to being up on the threaded height adjusters. A small, but noticeable tone difference.
I have a 2001 Standard Strat that I have set up with Ernie Ball Power Slinkey strings (11, 14, 18, 28, 38, 48) and they bend as easily as 9s or 10s due to the set up of the bridge. I like the tone of heavier treble plain strings. More metal = better tone and more output.
Good luck, and play with different set ups. That is one reason why I have several Strats. I like to experiment with different combinations to see how they sound and feel. Not every Strat will be set up the same.

Hey guys you're all great, and I really thank you very much, I will pay attention to all of your answers and try to go from there.
To paisley strat: Yeah I think that the bridge saddle is set high, now is there any book or can you tell me how to set it up lower, because to tell you the truth I have the same strings on a Squier and they're not bad at all, I'll search on the net to see if I can find tech books cause I'd liked to set it up myself but I'm no pro. and I don't want to mess it up, if it's not that hard I'll do it, if not I'll bring it to a pro.
Thanks guys. :D

Check this site for Stratocaster set up specs. It is a good starting point. You really can't mess things up too bad by adjusting the bridge saddles. You CAN get into a little trouble if you start adjusting the truss rod without some knowledge
Start out by getting familiar with the stock Fender specs from this site, and start measuring things, and make notes of where you are now, before you start twisting screws.
