Its more due to the hendrix estate demanding a high percentage of the sales price for use of the name. They sold plenty when they were released.
Why not just buy a lefthanded 68 reissue. Hendrix's strats were stock.

Personally, when I picked one up and played it, I hated it. While they may be cool to look at, it's a totally different feel/impression when you play one.

Take an american strat and flip it. Thats pretty much all the jimi hendrix strat is. which is why i don't think it was very popular. All youre doing is paying for the name on ebay.

It's not like like Hendrix was famous for one particular guitar anyway, he would play whatever they gave him. Each guitar was named after a show, Fillmore Strat, Monterey Strat, etc...

+1 you said it niki. I guess it's the thought of it.

I dont understand the attraction.
I played a lefty strung backwards once, and it sucked.
His gits were all stock, anyway. If you really want one, buy a 62 reissue lefty, string it upside down, pour some lighter fluid on it, and smash the sh*t out of it. Thats as close as your going to get.

It takes alittle more than stringing it backwards. You also must flip the nut.
