Sorry all but I have another pickup question. I know that everyone is getting tired of pickup questions however I tried searching this one and did not get much help.

Sooo...I reluctantly ask....

What do people think of EMG pickups for strat?

I always associate active with shredders, but I can get what seems like a great deal on a set and thought I might give them a shot since I was looking at some vintage noiseless pickups anyway. I am more of a classic rock or bluesy guy and wonder if these will satisfy me or leave me disappointed?

They seem to work for David Gilmour. Haven't tried them in a Strat but hear good reviews on them. Mike

I used to have a Candy Apple Red, MIJ 50s reissue. I threw the EMG DG20 in it and it sounded like gold. So much that a guy came up to me after a gig and offered to buy it for $400 more than I had into it. I took the deal. I should've put another one together but did the responsible thing and used it to pay some bills lol

I feel your reluctance asking a pickup question. There are as many varied opinions on pick up choice as there pickups out there. There are as many traditionalists here as there are forward thinkers. No one opinion or any one style is right. Question is what really do you want…(In my opinion); I think the EMG pickups are not to bad..There’s are a lot of things they will do and a lot they will not (as with any pickup). I believe for rock and blues they are a good choice, and if you can get them at a good price I say go for it and see how they do..I don’t have any of them in my strats but do have them in two of my other guitars and dig them.. I love the high output but am not in love with the battery thing.. Don’t get me wrong I never have a problem and the batteries do last a long time, I just view it as one more thing in the chain that could go wrong…the great thing is that a pickup change don’t necessarily have to be a permanent change if you find there not what you really want (except for being out a few bucks)..yeah you cand get great shred tones out of them but if turned back a bit they excel for Blues and rock….Again; my opinion….I say go for it and give them a try.

That’s a good Deal…depending on where you shop for them; you are saving anywhere from 50 to 90 bucks on that deal….. good score

Personally I'm not a fan of EMG's, SD's, and a few others.
