Hey guys; was wondering if you guys had heard of, or tried the true Temper necks yet?. I guess the concept is to keep the intonation right at every single note everywhere/ anywhere on the neck. Seems to me the theory is a good one, but my necks seem to work just fine how they are..
(it just looks so odd to me)…Steve Via has been using this on a few of his guitars for some time now….I was just wondering if anyone here uses this system, and what they really think of it?......or what you think of it, even if you have never used it… here is the link!!….. thanx…Bill

I really don't kno what to think about this until I have touched it...

My first question would be, what happens when I bend a string??

Also, it makes me think about how adjustable my intonation is...
obviously I am confused about it. lol

Bridge section intonation wouldnt be too important as the neck itself is intoned. String bending and vibrato wouldnt be a problem either as you sharpen the note anyway. Guitar frets are a real weakpoint from a musical point of view. Download gtune or strobosoft and measure the pitch of your fretted notes. They are all over the place, sharp/flat with no rhyme or reason other than standard frets do an imperfect job. Something i discovered when i installed a compensated nut to allow for low fret intonation. Get one part right and another part goes wrong. Its simply the audible difference in string tension between frets on a straight fretted board.
Here's another good link to 'lucy tuned' music a system derived from john harrisons longitude latitude theories.

I've played a few guitars that have the Buzz Feiten tuning system (Which Vai did to his guitars) and to be honest, I couldn't hear a difference. I've heard though it's supposed to help those who have keyboards or other non-stringed instruments in their band so that the guitar can be more in tune to them.

The Buzz feinten system simply moves the nut forwards and doesnt allow for individual string differences which is what cause the problem in the first place. The earvana system is better but still not perfect. This bloke knows a good deal about it and explains well how to make your own.

Heres a fella who's nut i will try if he'll sell direct without fitting.
http://www.guitarsetup.co.uk/TheFunkyNut.php I'm certainly not going to be paying £130 to have a nut fitted. I could buy a squire, some plastic strips and develop my own system for that.

I like the sound of this one better, but I'm in agreement, this is something I could do myself if the nut could be sold separately. I'm not going to pay someone all that money to do it.
