I don't have the money to go out and buy a $1000+ guitar, So I need some help choosing a guitar in this price range "title".

I’ve played the Fender Players Deluxe and I think It sound pretty sweet.

Is there anything "in your preference" That may be better in the price range?

Oh yeah, The styles of music I like is Classic rock, "Some" today rock, Blues, and very little metal.

So, just ta let ya know.

You're probably going to get the best bang for your buck with a used instrument. American Stratocasters from the mid-to-late 90's sell for about $600 everyday on eBay, for instance, and many are truely closet classics in condition. That's how I got the standard model in my signature picture. They won't have the latest whiz-bang electronics of today's high-end new models, but who really needs that with the new amps that are appearing today?

If it just HAS to be new, look at the Made-in-Mexico stratocasters .... some players prefer these, in fact, to the USA-made variety and the price is certainly gringo-gratifying.

I've found a Highway One Strat for $630, and I have as of yet to buy it.

I paid $540 including tax for a new Highway One 2006 edition that was on clearance. It was new, not used, and no blemishes.

Highway 1 is the best I've seen so far.

The MIM Deluxe series Strats offer a lot of high end features for fewer pesos. I have a friend who loves his Deluxe Players and I love my Deluxe Powerhouse (Inca Silver) with the 12dB boost and noiseless pickups. Some call it a "Poorman's Blackie" because the Clapton sig model has a 25dB boost, but it's really a backhanded compliment.

I do love my Highway 1 and it gets the most playing time of my 13 guitars. The tone is a bit brighter than the Powerhouse and the playability might be a bit better. Try them both if you can.

Get a Standard Stratocaster, and upgrade the pickups and electronics. You will have a nice guitar, with a unique set-up and sound for not a ton of cash. Other nice mods are roller string trees, Tusq nut, and new bridge saddles made from graphite to enhance tuning stabilty. The Strat is like a GM small-block 350 engine. Too many parts too chose from!!!

i got a Deluxe Players Strat for $540 and love it. Tried Highway 1 and a few others before deciding. Felt it was the most bang for the buck and it played and felt great.

The Jimmie Vaughan Tex-Mex Strat guitar “borders” on the sublime, with an alder body, specially shaped tinted maple neck with medium jumbo frets, vintage hardware and single-ply white pickguard. The single-coil Tex-Mex pickups in the neck and middle positions, and extra-hot Tex-Mex pickup with special wiring in the bridge position, stir in tones with just the right amount of southwestern spice and rattlesnake bite.

Hello Samuel,

Those MIM player deluxe's are a fine guitar
They look good, feel good and sound good.

Those same things can be said for the Highway one.

Same money generally speaking.

Best of luck on your choice.

Absolutley a Great Guitar! citizenerased and I have the same Saphire Blue one, and they now offer it in Sienna Burst. I still would have picked the Saphire Blue.

If you're looking for something more traditional, the Jimmie Vuaghan Strat is real nice.
