Hey Ya'll,
For those who have been following the Strat rebuild threads here over the past couple of weeks, mine's done now too! I actually got her put together and setup yesterday but I just didn't get to any pictures until about an hour ago (and I know you folks need the pics! LOL!).

Just as a refresher so folks don't have to go digging for the other threads, here's what the body looked like the day I brought her home...

I haven't done any "artsy" pics yet...I'll get to that another day but I wanted something to get posted both here and abroad. Here's the finally finished product...

Clearly the back here does have some issues with the finish and there's one or two other small spots as well, but I had never intended this one to be "perfect". As I've said before, this guitar was much more about "character".

Sorry about the finger prints but note the "serial number"...I had my birthday, 19th of August '65 engraved.

Image

Again here's the logo I did on the head stock and just so no one freaks, here's a shot of the back of the headstock showing the original serial number and the "Crafted in Indonesia"...again I did the logo just for aesthetic reasons for my own satisfaction and I have no intent on ever selling this instrument.

Well...there she is! I still have a few tweaks to do to the setup but over-all she plays and sounds very nice. In fact, I used the Indo Squires pickups and I very surprised (and quite pleased) with how good she sounds! The first string change I am going to have to go in and shield the pickguard and the cavities...I didn't really want to do that until I could hear how she sounds. Ultimately for a guitar which I have around $135 into, she looks, plays and sounds like a much nicer instrument. I'm happy :D.

With the Squire neck and e-tronics, the MIM bridge and the body of unknown origin, she's really a "Strat-o-mutt" but I've officially dubbed her "Brownie" in honor of one of Clapton's guitars.

Enjoy,
Jim

Thanks for the kind words! The pups are actually the stock alnicos that came in the 2004 Indonesian Squire Standard that the neck came off of. I had figured I'd see how she sounds and then put something like some vintage RI's in her later but I'm actually quite happy with the way she sounds...the 2 and 4 switch positions really have a very vintage vibe, so I'll probably stick with these for a while.

I am currently working on a Squier-Partscaster and I hated those pu's...a descent solution is MIM standards that I have now...but now I still would like to upgrade but these were cheap and playable...I really hated the sound of the Squier standards.

Jim, you say you don't care about the finish being perfect, and in this case I am inclined to agree with you. Something about your colour scheme seems to be enhanced(complimented?-hard to find the right phrase for what i am trying to say,) by the minor imperfections. i guess, it just seems to suit that guitar perfectly.  :D
