firesupra007,

First, welcome to the Forum.

If your guitar came with the metal tape covering the hole, remove it, make sure not to lose the little spring inside. If you have the type with the screws then carefully insert the tremelo bar in the hole and screw it in until you feel resistance and stop. When I put mune on I tighten it until it is tight and then back it off two rotations. That is just where I like it. If you like less wiggle in the bar screw it in a little tighter, more wiggle then back it off a turn.

If you do not have the type with the screws, you just pop it in.

Have fun with it.

Yes, but not to tight. It is possible to break the bar off in the trem.

I've got another question. Is it better to keep the Trem bar screwed in the guitar, or remove it after use? And what steps can I take to maintain it?

That entirely depends on where you are going to keep the guitar when it is not being used.

If you hang it on the wall, you're generally ok to leave the trem bar in.

If you put it on a stand, you may want to take it out if the place is busy.
(You wouldn't believe the amount of guitars I've seen wrenched off stands by people walking too close to them. Their trousers or legs just catch the bar then wham)

If you put it in a case, take the arm off. Even with a softcase.

Well, I keep my guitar in a case usually, so I'd better remove it. And is it necessary to oil the tremolo bar once in a while, to keep it smooth? How long can I keep it without being oiled?

I've never oiled a trembar in twentyfive years. Never saw the need to.

All you really need to do is be carefull that you dont cross the thread. And that you don't overtighten the thing. You'll be fine.

Go enjoy your guitar mate.

Really!? Oh wow! Now that's something. Yes, I have to be careful with screwing it in.

Thanks :)

The advice about taking the bar out before you put it in the case is the most important. If you put the guitar in the case with the bar screwed in and the case sustains any impact the chances are that the bar will crack off in the screw hole which is a very costly fix-I found that out the hard way.

There is a tiny spring that drops in the trem hole before you screw the trem arm in.. They sell them in a pack of four or something.
