I've been wanting a new strat....and my buddy is offering me his 1996 50th anniversary stratocaster for 800 its sunburst and in great condition is this a good deal?

Its an ok deal you can find them for less but its your friend and if you lie the guitar and don,t care about the money go for it.

Forget what it actually is.
You'd kinda really have to play it and get a gooood feel for it in order to know whether or not you're willing to front 800 bucks for it.

I also agree about making sure you play it and you KNOW that its the perfect guitar for you.

Money wise, that's not a great deal. In 96 I think they were less than that brand new. If it's been modded at all, that bumps the price down as far as resale value - even if you have nice parts on it.
