Hey, I'm looking to buy my second strat and I need a little help. I love the blues and want my guitar to sound as "bluesy" as possible. What should I be looking for ??

There is no such thing as a "bluesy" guitar, and no Strat sounds "bluesier" than another one. That sound comes from you.

If you get a chance, check this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5Tiqv4Irjs

It's JJ Cale and Eric Clapton playing Cale's song "After Midnight." Cale's blues tone is awesome. And what is he playing? A dirt-cheap Casio guitar with a built in synth of some kind that no self-respecting blueman would even give a second look in a pawn shop.

Just buy a guitar and play it.

JJ Cale is the man, and that video is wonderful. Not to mention that I totally agree with you. A great player will make the worst guitar and amp in the world sound great while someone of my caliber has the startling ability to make virtually any guitar sound bad :?

I guess that explains why Fender has no Blues model Strats. If there were such a thing, you can bet we'd see in stores:

Texas Blues Strat
Delta Blues Strat
Chicago Blues Strat
Sixties English Recylcled Blues Strat

etc etc

If you prefer American made (which MIM and MIJ strats are absolutely amazing as well) I recommend the Highway One. It's incredible and has never let me down, plus tone to boot!

If you have a big budget.......hit a store and try the American Deluxe Strat. (since you said you wanted American)

They offer a 'modern C-neck' version, and a V-neck version as well, so you have some choice. Check the online catalog for specs. SCN pickups were put on these guitars, and touted by the company as the closest to vintage sound in a noiseless single coil (actually a stackedhumbucker). The best thing since sliced bread, according to them. Some people love 'em , some not. They've also put them in the '57 Hotrod. There's another guitar you can check out. A bit more pricey, but interesting electronics, and neck carve. One of our mates in England has one and loves it.

Yep...nothing like a little finger slyle guitar, a cool and laid back attitude, from the man who also wrote "Cocaine" and "The Breeze" among others.
Just follow that road to Endicino....and forget about Oz.
