Hello everyone,

I wanna put a floyd rose on my american strat. I've seen it done before, but does anyone have a step-by-step breakdown of how to do it?

Thanks,

Gem

There's one in the Fender line, but it seems that Fender has given it over to it's Charvel company to market Strat body types with that type of bridge.

Beware of 'great deals' from neurosurgeons, Floyd Rose Bridge installers, and parachute packers

Heh, no joke

I went to three different places to get quotes on getting it done. One place was as low as $50 so you can guess I didn't pick that one lol

In line with some of the previous discussion, I was wondering, with all that black hardware, if I weren't looking at a Charvel but the out of focus lettering in the background does appear to suggest 'Fender'.

Nice look on that!

P.S. Take care who packs your parachute! Could be a mind-blowing experience.

It does indeed say Fender, good eyes. It's a Warmoth compound radius neck and was sold as such when I purchased it off of eBay, the decal was already on it. I have no plans to sell it, but if that day ever comes, I would definitely represent it as what it is, a partscaster. I got burned on that before by what I thought was a reputable music store :/

The body is from an Olympic White '73 strat that was heavily modded at some point in the '80's. They put a swimming pool route in the pickup cavity as well as a Kahler and had it painted in it's present color by an auto shop. I actually like the color, but hated the Kahler so I took that off, sold it and purchased the FR.

The pickups are an F Spaced DiMarzio Evolution at the bridge, a red lace sensor in the middle and a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails at the neck. It's my shredder axe :D

So much for the reason to be informed, and why the sharing of information here is of such value. I could never undertand the logic of that swimming pool route. I had a Fernandes routed as such, and a '97 American Standard as well. It takes the heart out of the guitar. I as muc feel the same about the standard HSH routing that forms the basis for most Fender Strat bodies.
