Hi, can anybody tell me the difference between the way Eric Johnson has his strats wired and the standard way. I am a huge fan of the lead sounds Eic gets from his bridge pickup. I have a 2004 American series and a 2008 American standard. I've already replaced the stock pickups in both guitars with some fantastic Kinman traditional Mk 2's, thoroughly recommended by the way. What are the pros and cons of Erics mod and ultimately would you recommend having it done?

He wires the bottom tone pot to the bridge pickup instead of the middle pickup.
Its somewhat a redundant mod when you can wire a jumpercable and have the tone pot covering both pickups.

why is it that you saying that is the first time i've ever thought about that.

Jeeze! that would have been so much smarter. I just wired up a guard the other day and i could have done that. I feel dumb now.

oh no worries, that was just one of those "DUH!" moments. I'll shoot an email your way, the wiring i did the other night was for my new toy, idk if you saw it, i posted a thread about it here:

i've got some mixed reviews over the paint scheme, but i really like it, and it screams! great tone.

anyways, totally off topic, sorry! :?
