thinking of changing out pickups ,does anyone have any thoughts good or bad about KLEIN's stuff? i'm looking for something with GILMOUR tone,a CLAPTON twang , and able to handle a METAL HEAD CRUNCH

this is a perfect world ,so those three at once is'nt to much to ask ,RIGHT?

Welcome!

I've never heard of Klein nor his stuff, good, bad or indifferent.

For Gilmour and Clapton's stylings, there's plenty of pickups which are quite interchangeably compatible for either. Yet, when you throw in the Metal requirement, I'd say there is no one pickup which would cover the three.

I think it depends what you mean by metal...is it old school metal like Sabbath or Zeppelin, or is it today's modern metals which is extremely distorted. I think that maybe Vintage Noiseless like the ones in a Clapton signature model might be a good fit for you, or possibly SCN pu's.

Very good hand wound pickups. I just put some in a Warmoth guitar for a friend and the sound was good. He wanted something different and went with the Alnico 4 set and they were crystal clear. I have also heard the Pro 50's

Sound like EMG may be the way to go. Don't they have that Gilmour loaded pickguard?

I like the Dimarzio Area pickups (Yeah I know I plug them all the time).
I'm a huge Gilmour fan and I'm running (from neck to bridge) 67s, 58's, and 61.
The 67 gives the neck a nice fat crisp sound without giving you too much bass. Anywhere else it's too brittle.
The 61 softens up the bridge a bit and has a higher output.

I'm not a metal player, but too me just about any pickup works with metal given enough gain.
