Lite'nin' Hopkins, you don't have a poor guitar amongst your collection, do you? Very pretty Tele: what taste you have! How are you finding it next to your nice Strats? Cheers - C

Should be easy. They have different bodies and headstocks :!: :P

 That's a good one Doc! I'm thinking of putting a black pick guard on the Tele so it will be similar looking to the DG. All Black! 8) What do you think?

My MIM tele is black and the guy I bought it from replaced the pickguard with a black one. It looks really good. I don't have a picture, but I'd recommend it if you've got a maple neck. I don't think Fender ever made an all black standard Tele so it's unique too.

I'd have to go back and review some of my video on Perkins' guitar. I always had the impression that, in later years, he was playing an all Peavy by its styling and I don't recall it having an all maple neck unless it was painted black with a rosewood board. But it was definitely a T-type. Perhaps it was custom made for him. Anyone out there have anything further on this.

That monochromatic look would likely be as attractive as the all rosewood guitar. alainlafrance has a beautiful example in his collection.

I've ordered a black abalone pick guard and a set of chrome volume and tone control knobs with black abalone inserted in the tops! I'll keep the white parchment guard and original chrome knobs just in case I don't like it. I'm getting the guard from WD Music and the control knobs from www.qparts.com. Take a look at them if you feel like it. I think the Tele and the DG will look good sitting in front of my CS 57 Twin Tweed! 8) But may not........ :?

I'm going against my on advice of keeping everything original for the first time! :?:

My CIJ Tele has the SN on her neck, just as Orv described.

What the heck. You only live twice. Once when you buy the boat, the second when you sell it. I swapped the stock Deltatone electronics out of my '97 American Standard and replaced it with a DG-20. Set the stock powerplant away. When it came time to trade, I swapped it back and traded them both. Have fun. All you can possible do is get older.

I just had a look at Perkins appearance at The Concert for Montesserat, which might have been his last public appearance of that kind. The guitar is all dark, including fingerboard. Logo on the headstock looked like it might have been built by Tom Anderson.
