I got this instrument a while ago, and the seller told me that it was a Fender Stratocaster. I have my doubts. The headstock is the wrong shape, and the body looks a little off. The tuners are wood, so I am not sure those are stock. Any help???Image

Judging by the scalloped board i'd say its a malmsteen or blackmore model

That would be one of the first 12th Century Chinese made models.

I am pretty sure this "Strat" is made in India. One of the import brands. Maybe it is a Squire??

A MII Strat, interesting. Looks like it needs a little fret work.

Is that a built in bong on the back of the neck? If so i know a couple who'd pay top dollar for that axe.

Is that the Deluxe model with the hidden built in stash box?

Clearly that is the CS Signature "William Shakespeare" model. Nice sounding instrument thru a Marshall stack, but it tends to feedback ...

I knew you guys would have some fun with my "Strat".
The story is about 1987, my neighbor, who was from India, put this out for the TRASH when they were moving out of their place. It was just laying up against the dumpster....staring at me.....with those red eyes.....beckoning me....DON'T LET THEM THROW ME AWAY!!
It is obviously an Indian sitar. I have done some research on it.
All the trim is elephant tusk ivory! It is all hand done in what is called scrimshaw. It is a unique instrument. The frets are inlaid into rails made out of wax. It spent some time near a heat source, and the fretboard(?) melted a bit!! Who ever heard of a fretboard melting!! I guess it's not ebony. And isn't that carved dragons head awesome? Covered in gold leaf. And yes, there is a little stash box on the headstock to store your opium or snuff or whatever. The sound bell is not a bong!! But maybe with a little tubing and a mouthpiece....... It really sounds cool, and has the most unique tone, unlike anything I have ever heard.
It is a someday project....someday I will fix it up. 22 years later, and it is still waiting for someday.
So, do you think I could fit a set of samarium cobalt pickups in it, with a 5 way switch???

Your gonna have to midboost it to get rid of the sitar twang. Vintage noiseless may work well if you want to enhance the twang.

Looks like a rare, gold metallic Norwegian bong-o-caster.....
