Hey everyone! I'm new to these forums, but not to my strat. I have a '95 Mex Fender Strat. It was my first real guitar when I started playing at 14yrs old. I have since gotten many other guitars and let my strat collect dust, due to a broken bridge pickup. I was wondering, is it worth it to fix it up. I am thinking about putting Dimarzio Area 58,61, and 67 pickups in there and a '62 reissue bridge. I estimate it to come out to about $500. Is that a good set up for the mex strat?

welcome.

i'd leave the bridge alone. and personally, i think those pickups together will all kind of run together. i'd swap the bridge pickup for something to your liking. i wouldn't spend that much on it from the re-get-go. especially pickups as close in freq range as those dim's.

they'd be fine, i just think you'd be limiting yourself by just slapping them all in there. what was it that you didn't like about the mexi-pups? maybe find some american pups? maybe try a dim in the bridge?

just want to be the voice of reason here. it's a reversible point, but how many times do you want to do that? if you do, remember to do pots, switches and jacks to really get the full potential of those hot pickups.

Welcome, Joe!

Does the, "SI" mean you're from Staten Island?

Forget a new bridge. The original is fine, regardless of popular hysteria to the contrary.

As to your pickup combo, that's what I use in my MIM and I love it: 67 for the neck, 58 for the middle and a 61 for the bridge. Absolute, "balls and bells". You won't be disappointed!

If you lived near me, I'd install them for you for free. Save money. :D

I enjoy the work, but even more so, I enjoy the finished product.

...this reply is useless. SOrry.

I was born and raised on SI and lived there all my life up until I moved to Jersey 5 years ago. What town are you from?

If you feel like coming into the city anytime soon I'd be happy to help you put them in.

ahhh, so you did the Jersey move Martian?! I am hopng to move to LA within the next couple of years.

Hey, thanks a lot cwpainter for the offer. I havent gotten the pickups yet. I will probably be getting them around June. But I still may take you up on that offer then. I should probably learn how to do that stuff on my own also. I basically just know how to change my strings, everything else I leave to the "professionals".
