I am by far the most experienced Strat player but i sort of noticed 1 thing. Maybe its a illusion or something, but i somehow find 21 strats to be more comfortable to play on the lower frets than 22 frets.
Any idea if the neck is mounted different or something?

Maybe it's because the neck gets a little thicker as it gets nearer to the body and 22 fret would have a little thicker neck at the body. This is a very small difference though, I find that the tones I can get from a 22 fret stand out more than the feel of the neck.

Hi FriendlyGuitarAddict: psycological, I suspect. There should be absolutely no physical difference between a 21 and a 22 fret neck, save for the 22nd fret overhang.

We could check it, I guess. Where's my calipers...?

It's strange, and I don't know why...but I agree with you. I much prefer 21 fret strats.

That 22nd fret is like strange uncharted territory!

It does throw me off sometimes. But sometimes I am happy to have that 22nd fret!

I have 24 frets - don't use the 23rd and 24th very often but is easier to get to the 21st and it sounds better than when the 22nd is last.
