Hey everyone . . . I'm new to posting on the forum but I've been enjoying the forum as a reader for some time.

I need some help. I'm trying to get some practical information on Fender's Custom Shop Stratocaster Pro. I don't want to order one without some more information beyond what Fender has on their site as well as all the music store websites. My local guitar center doesn't stock them so I can't play one without committing to it. Does anyone own one or have some familiarity with one that you'd be able to share you knowledge?

Thanks :?:

I've checked one out very briefly. It was pretty sweet - similar to my highway one actually, though craftsmanship / pickups / "little things" were obviously higher / better.

Where are you planning on ordering one? I'd suggest finding a shop online that has one (like http://wildwestguitars.com/fhome.htm) in stock and calling them. Ask them to check it out for you, play it, etc., and ask a million questions of them. Maybe even buy it and have it shipped to you to check out if they'll allow for a return within a few days (you'd likely have to pay the shipping both ways if you decide to return it).

I just did this with a Mayer strat, and surprisingly, it worked out great.

Thanks, ggoldman, for your reply. I've already sent an email to Wild West with some questions.

I played one at wild west. Awesome guitar. It was thin nitro finish, roller nut with the tiny ballbearings and no resistance for bending, locking tuners, SCN pickups that sounded much better than on an AmDX I played earlier, maybe because of the setup or the need for more "break-in" with the AmDx. Similar to the Beck, it just refuses to play a bad note, not doing the "g string buzz" from the little touches and so forth, and that also was the amp because I was playing through a Blues Junior which is awesome and overdrives without making the guitar supertouchy.

I have one.
Heck of a Strat, love it. Contoured heel, silky smooth neck, great pups. Overall a great guitar.
Check The Music Gallery, Frank just got a bunch of them in cool colors.

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. I already have an American Deluxe with the SCNs in it? Do you think the tonal difference will be enough to justify getting another strat with SCNs it it? In other words would it be better to look at something with different pups in it like another Custom Shop piece?

Thanks for your help!
