Never been lucky enough to own one.

I'd use it as i'm picky over neck pitch.
Niki, i am confident that if you ever pulled a neck that has one, and had a good look at it, you would go make a shim instead.

I dunno mate i try and remain open to new stuff. Looking at it i can see why people may not like it but i cant think of one aspect of a fender guitar that has been around so long if it was detrimental to the instrument. Like i said though i've no firsthand experience. Is it just a flat internal plate to jack the far heel end up or is it chamfered? Flat would only work one way and chamfered would create a treble or bass side bias.
I spent a good couple of weeks sanding the correct angle into that sappele body of mine. A very time intensive labourious task. A good alternative to those who dont want to shim though or if the shim would be too small/thin to shape.

Yes Mike, on a couple. The AM Standard Tele and my MIA Deluxe ash Strat! Not on the CS though! :) Oh, and I've never used them.

I'm with fhop on this one. I have 3 guitars with the micro-tilt (from various decades), but I don't use it.

It always seemed a little unreliable to me, but luckily I didn't have to use it to adjust the neck angle on those guitars.

If you read and follow the instructions, you will not have a problem. Mine's on my 72 3 bolt Strat and I made a sleight adjustment once or twice, usually if I jump string gauges. Never, ever a problem. A shim made incorrectly can cause even more problems than a tilt neck micro adjustment.

I wonder how times they are used at the time of assembly for the final setup and inspection before going out. I can't imagine them being around so long and warent the extra cost to Fender if they are not benificial to them in some way. Perhaps they have been used on peoples guitars and done there job so that many have not had to full with them unless they move it when working on the neck.

There are similar 3 bolt more primitive systems like my Supro that do the same thing and work fine.

Nah, never used them, but, when I was taking apart a strat to re-finish and the screw came out, had to look all over the back porch for the stupid thing - - does that count?

This screw you speak of - I may have a loose screw (stop laughing) under the neck plate of my 1995 Am. Standard Tele. Something is rattling around in there. I can see that it looks like a screw by peeking through the hole. The neck is fine, doesn't need any adjustment, so I'm wary of taking it apart if it's not necessary.
Think it'll be ok if I just let it rattle?

Hey Todd Montgomery! Haven't seen you around for ages. How are you doing?

Sounds like you have the shake, rattle and roll Strat.

Probably easily addressable if it's bothering you. If you feel like it, pull it apart for a look. There's nothing hi-tech going on in there: it's just nuts and bolts stuff (literally). Probably just wants tightening a tad till it's not loose anymore - but stop before it starts actually putting pressure on the heel...

Cheers man - C

Ya, and I paid extra for the shake-rattle & roll model!

I have been busy, for some odd reason, and haven't been on the forum in a while. Good thing you're still out there sharing your genius.

I'll pull the plate and put the nut back on. Question - with the 4-bolt plate off, is the neck still attached to the body or should I loosen the strings first?

Thank you for you help.

Love,
Todd

I don't know exactly what you mean by "using it". My 1980 strat has a micro tilt neck. It was adjusted way back when for a decent setup.
