does anyone know if its possible to swap out the vintage fender strat 6 pin tremolo with the fender american strat two pin tremolo

because my guitar is set up for the vintage
but the standard dives deeper gives more control with the tremolo
and it is much easier to palm mute on the american standard bridge than it is the vintage bridge
and it is easier on the strings and keeps them from breaking??

Its possible but requires a lot of work. Ceri has done it and says the refinishing of the dowels is difficult as well as post placement.

Love the username mr Valentine. Is it FF7 inspired?

Hi, I have done this to a MIM body which I put an american standard tremolo on.... first I sealed the vintage holes with wood filler and let it dry completely then sanded the tops carefully so they would be flat and then I drilled the two outer post holes and I was very cafeful!! I practiced on a piece of wood several times before doing it actually on the guitar body butttt in the end the holes came out perfect and then I put the american bridge posts in there with a press I pushed them in and since I had practiced before on the piece of wood it came out sweet ..... if you have the right tools and you practice a lot !! then you will be successful :D

Does your guitar sound any different with the modern trem you put on it?

To the original poster, if you are having string breakage problems you need to buy graphtech saddles. Vintage trem saddles are string eaters- they need to be replaced with graphtech ASAP.

I can dive bomb plenty far with my vintage trem.
The modern trem can go farther?
