I don't like the position of the pickup selector switch. If I get too aggressive with my strumming, suddenly I'm using the bridge pickup!

I also agree with Ceri that string trees are a bit of an inelegant solution. But on the balance, it's still a pretty great instrument.

P.S. I don't understand why no Fenders after the Strat have the ashtray cable jack. I think this is one of the best features on the guitar, yet subsequent models like my Jazzmaster didn't include it.

I've had that happen in the middle of a song live with my band before. It took me a second to realize what had happened.

And the block of wood at the neck is annoying when you've got small hands and are trying to play way up high. But you get used to it, same as the volume knob.

I wouldn't change anything major on it.

First off there's nothing like a real Strat! but I really hate the single coil sound most of the time, but I haven't found anything that i like to play better than a 50's and 60's era strat so I'm always having to route it out for a humbucker. But I guess that's what makes it "my" guitar!!

For you guys having trouble with the volume knobs, I had a guy one time tell me to fold a piece of duct tape into a little square and put it between the bottom of the knob and the pickguard to make it hard er to turn the knob and I haven't had that problem since. It works!!

I second the Volume control placement, just a tad too close for me. I also wish their were more bridge options. If you wanted a Floyd Rose or a hardtail. I would like to have an American Strat each with a Floyd, Vintage Trem, and a Hardtail. That would cover the bases for me. Along with a Flying V.

Yesterday was the first time I really "rocked out" on my strat, and I found that I kept hitting the volume knob, which kept turning my sound down.

I would have to say one or two more hardtail models and less gimmicky signature models.

I think the Fender Stratocaster approaches perfection in an electric guitar and it speaks volumes that there have been no real major design changes in its 50+ years of existence, but . . .

I agree with a previous poster about the size of the neck joint. The body is cut away to reach the lower frets, but then you have to deal with the blockish neck joint . . . unless you have an Am Dlx. Why not incorporate the shaved joint into all (or at least more) Strat models?

Also, I'd like to see more models offered with a 12" radius. I found I play much better on a flatter fretboard.
