You mentioned Blackmore and Lynott in the same post...sweet! Ritchie has the tapes of him, Lynott and Ian Paice jamming...it was going to be a band before Ritchie decided to reform Purple and record the Burn album. I'd love to hear those tapes :D

Now there's a departure from the subject at hand for certain.

Heh, too obvious wasn't I?

!st, I have made no objections,I simply asked a question.I made nomove to insult anyone. I just wondered, why.(forgive the redundancy of the statement)
2nd, I can't seem to find ths burr of which you speak,so I move that it does not exist and therefore cannot effect the outcome.
3rd, I second those who say "lets talk music".
I also say "I know I liked ZZDOC for the great line in his posts and now i find hes married to a lawyer. That is awesome. My wife is an IT person. Degrees up the wazoo just so she can direct someone to"plug it in,now push that button there." love it.
Hooray for the Irish,I are Irish as well(notice user name).
I also agree if the admin wishes to kill this thread,I have no objections. It seems to have pushed some buttons, and caused many assumptions by some who didn't really read what I wrote(my opinion).
Now on with the Fender talk.

Yes indeed. Anyone coming to a guitar forum and expecting a lengthy philosophical discussion about "why" a word that's offensive to some of its readers was automatically bleeped out just don't seem like they have much common sense. Common sense. Now there's a something that, unfortunately isn't very "common" anymore. Sad. This debate should be targeted at a philosophy or zen buddhist forum.

But please, go on. Show us all how much happy it truly makes you to rant on an issue that the vast majority of these forum users agree and accept. This is a wonderous example of how intelligence and sense really don't necessarily converge in the real world.

"Do not concern yourself, Officer Callahan"

It was a jolly good joust. 8)

We do get into it every so often. Only in The Lounge though. (Notice how we're going through this 'emo' business again??. The dogs of war once before loosed, ultimately restrained, only to return anew.)

Elsewhere its strictly business, though.

At our colleague's request..let's move on.

Doc

I'm hardly PC, but neither am a one of those who goes out of their way to be politically incorrect.

I don't concern myself either way whether something is PC.

Is it too difficult to type MIJ in reference to an guitar?

Why question the inability to use a word that is offensive to many people, and has no real point the other way to use?

I'm not wildly PC, but there's just a snobbery about Macs that puts me off.

...Have I missed the point entirely?

Hehe - so many of the Mac owners I know are people who can barely turn the thing on and off unassisted, and yet come out with all this "Macs are better" stuff. They start gulping like fish when you ask them to explain how their Mac is better - and better than what? But they're absolutely convinced they're a higher grade of human for having a computer with curvy corners.

There. Now I've started a completely different row!!!

Shoot me down in flames, everyone...!

why was it when I typed a question about a Japanese strat but only used the first 3 letters, was the word scrambled like a cuss word? is asking about japanese strats without the "anese" part some sort of pc violation? This world is definetly in need of a priorities check.sheesh.

It's you who needs to check your priorites.

Confusing common courtesy with some kind of evil PC movement (as if you even know the origin of therm) is not the mark of a "freethinker," as so many suppose.

CHeck out some American WWII propaganda and see why so many Asians (and I know a bunch of them) consider your "abbreviation" an ugly racial epithet.

I'm frankly sick of undereducated people whining that THEY are being victimized because society frowns on their unending rudeness.

$$$ is an English abbreviation of the word "Japanese." Today it is regarded as an ethnic slur though English-speaking countries differ in the degree they consider the term offensive. In the United States, Japanese Americans have come to find the term controversial or offensive, even when used as an abbreviation.
