125 dollars for this guitar. It has a dime-bucker in the bridge. Worth it or no?

Its $125, of course its probably worth it. Even if you use it for parts.

I'd check it out, a 30 minute drive isn't that bad.

That's an interesting finish, for sure.

I was quite serious about seeing more of the instrument.(Serial # in partciular).
I was handling a Fender Affinity Strat Friday at GC, price tag a tad under $200 US which had a surprisingly well-finished neck.(The first thing I look for is fret ends). Gear like this can serve in a situation where you don't want to risk the loss of a great guitar. Through both a Blues Deluxe/RI and Blues Deville/RI, the guitar was definitely as keeper as an inexpensive spare.

Off the wall, as a demo, I likely could have negotiated another $50 off .

Jeff Healey played Squires with I think Evans pups. If it plays and sounds okay, at least you'd have a beater worst case. Squires aren't that bad, some are really nice actually. I have lots of old cheap guitars that are wonderful and unique sounding.

Lower end manufacturers are traditionaly more daring in their ideas. It does indeed make for some wonderfull unique tones.

Healy's spectacular skills had to have relied more on well designed circuitry and a meticulously relieved, intonated and fret dressed neck, with no reliance on neck carve, and less on body wood type.

Your observations are well taken. I sample these low end Fenders as I browse. If one is seriously in the market for a starter instrument, and looks carefully, you can find a keeper, even if they happen to be crafted out of mystery wood.
