I posted this question in the tele forum, but got no answer. The question is actually pretty generic, and since there are always more people over here (myself included!) I wanted to run it by you all.

I'm upgrading the pups in my MIM tele to Texas specials. I was thinking of upgrading the pots and pup sel switch, too. I have 2 harnesses, a stock MIM and a 52 reissue. Here's what I have:

1. stock MIM wiring- 250K pots with the stock (metal and board) pup switch. It has a 100v ?resistor? wired.

2. 52 reissue. 250k pots are SIGNIFACANTLY smaller than the mim. Plastic pup sel switch. Smaller guage wire than the mim. Pots are wired w/ ?resistor? between them, and a smaller ?resistor? "jumpered" on the volume pot.

Here's my questions:
1. Which harness do you, the Fender community, feel would be better?
2. Do the smaller pots make a difference?
3. What is the difference between the 2 wiring setups?

Thanks in advance!
Mike

Bigger pots will probably last longer. If they're the same value, they shouldn't make any audible difference. The "100v resistor" you're talking about is a capacitor. It effects the the treble rolloff you get with your tone knob. Different types of capacitor sound different. I'd recommend a tubular one over a ceramic disc one.
