Just picked up a 96 or 97 Mexi strat last night. :D I got it for a steal! I was wondering though, I don't know if it is just a standard strat or some other model. It has different tuners and a different decal than what I am used to seeing. I'll put some pics up but I must warn you the quality is terrible because I had to take the pictures with my phone. :( Any help you could give me is greatly appreciated! It's the white one obviously.
:D

For serial numbers, go here: http://www.fender.com/support/mexican_instruments.php

Then you can find out which year your guitar was made and, from there, I'd say the best bet is to look on google or something for specific details of that particular year. By the way, nice guitar! Hope you have fun with it!

I had a MIM strat from the late 90's and I must say that decal on the headstock looks a little off...I don't have the guitar anymore or I would take a look.

It just doesn't seem quite right.

Had a 95 for years, and it looked nothing like that.

I can't see the serial numbers very good but, are there any letters in front of the numbers? It's hard having bad eyesight!

95 - 96 MIM Strat, Black Logo is MIM Squier Series. It was often that people removed the Squier Series logo on the top.

By the way, I am not knocking the guitar down at all. I had one for a little while and the neck felt great. Sold it to a band called Vitamin X. Pretty sure they smashed it on stage. If you google them up you'll get that feeling too.

It doesn't look as if the headstock has been sanded or anything to that effect in fact it looks flawless. But the letters in front of the serial number are MN if that helps.

Yeah the tuners are completely different. They're a lot more solid than the ones I've seen on the other MIM I had a year or two ago.

Here's a picture of mine:

Notice I replaced the tuners and the bridge, original was the weird Squier hardware.
