To me it has that classic Strat sound. I haven't been on a search for the perfect tone as many on the forums are, but I'm also not a professional. I play through a Line6 spiderjam and although it is solid state, it is very versatile for my tastes. Between this Strat and my Epi Les Paul and the Spiderjam, I have a LOT of tonal bases covered. I also have a fender showmaster QMT HH which has some strat and les paul qualities (fender shape and bridge, with set neck and humbuckers like a les paul. The showmaster is light as a feather.

I may upgrade the bridge pickup to a mini humbucker, but otherwise I'm real impressed with the Strat as player and a looker! When I first was looking at strats, I was thinking of installing the pre-wired EMG Gilmour pickguard and pickups, but I'm really enjoying this thing stock.

i have to ask, is that even a 60's color? i thought they came in daphne/sonic, 3 tone burst, white, and a foam/surf? i was thinking 4 colors, and definitely none were metallic.

Lake Placid Blue is definitely a 60's color.

Great deal and I love those vintage tuners. I wish that they were still standard issue on all Strats.

Did it not say it was a classic in the ad? I ask because i've been watching CL lately and i think i saw that one but assumed it was a standard because the pics are so small and hard to see. I could be wrong and thinking of a different one, but i could have sworn i passed that by because i assumed at the price it was a standard.

Anyways, i think they can vary a lot. I have one and it's not heavy. I would call it about average or a little less. lighter than most all my basswood MIJ RI's were.

I'm not really sure about color options. The ad said it was a classic 60's strat. The serial number checks to 2004 - 2005. All of the parts on the guitar seem to indicate classic 60s series. mint green pick guard and vintage style tuners. Neck looks like 60s and is the right color too.

It was listed as lake placid blue, but I'm not 100% sure if it is lake placid blue, looks lighter to me like it could almost be agave blue. I'm not sure how much variation in the colors exist. Lake placid blue is an option for the current Classic 60s series guitars on MF and GC.

Guy was asking 375 and I got it for 300 which seemed low to me. Either way I'm pretty much in love with the guitar!

Does anyone know what the Mexican Classic 60s series color options were in 2004 - 2005?

Nice Epi Custom!
When I bought my Gibson LP, I had my eye on the silverburst, but it was a little out of my price range.

Thanks - I was surprised by how nice the fit and finish on this guitar is especially for 699. It plays really nice too. The Gibson custom is certainly out of my range at this time.
