I was just wondering when everyone got there first Strat. What turned you on to the Strat, and what was your first Strat? Mine was a 1998 MIM with Sunburst finish and rosewood fretboard, and it still gets alot of use. I remember playing it in the store and thinking "Man, this is it, this is the guitar I've been looking for."

My number one use to be a squire but I bought a new neck Pick ups and hardware and now the only thing left from the original is the body. I would like to say its a Fender now. it has "Buddy Guy Signature V-Neck (Maple) Tex Mex Pick Ups and a Gold Metal Fender Pick Guard" One of my favorite guitars to play.

I haven't had it for a number of years, but I've still got my first Strat, a 2005 American Series.

My first Strat was a '94 MIM strat. It started out stock (black, white pickguard, 3 single coils, maple neck) but now has a red pearl pickguard, slanted humbucker in the bridge, p-90 in the neck, and custom wiring. Once I finish reworking a few things, it'll be my number 1 guitar again.

Wow-
OK, I'll claim the oldest guitar posted so far.
I still have my 1983 standard. {bought it Brand New} It may be the Mustang II of the guitar world, but it said "Fender" and was made in the USA. That's all I needed when I was 17.

I still have my 1986 Contemporary 22 System I Stratocaster (MIJ). I had become a family man and sold my guitars years earlier so in 1986 when I decided to play again, I wanted a Strat. At that time, I didn't know about the trouble Fender was in or the recent sale by CBS to Fender's management. I wanted an American Strat, but in '86 they were still scarce and expensive, so I settled for the MIJ. It's black with a maple fretboard, the plastic (except for the pickguard which is still snow white) has aged nicely and the once white neck has become a beautiful buttery yellow. Almost sold it back in the '90s, but I'm soooo glad I held on to it.

i've still got my first strat. i actually had my tech build a new strat for me from fender parts, sort of like clapton did with blackie. its got all new parts, except the body. i really liked the body from my first strat, its all beat up and worn, but it feels great, so i had him build a new one around the old body.

It was a beat up 70's strat I bought in 83. That was a mistake. LOL
