I have a mexican Stratocaster (so I'm told) nowhere on the guitar is a serial number or made in Mexico. On the headstock is just says Fender Stratocaster, Custom contoured body, and syncronized tremelo system.
Has anyone ever heard of this?

Al

This is going to sound stupid, but ... some people like to reduce the "stigma" of MIM guitar which may be the case here. So someone may have sanded off the "made in Mexico" and the serial number (the SN, too, because it starts with a dead-give-away "M"). In doing so, it de-values the instrument because it becomes much harder to distinguish from the fakes.

Anyway, this is all mere conjecture until we see the actual pics of it.

Some thieves also sand off the serial numbers.

I have a Stratocaster that has the Fender decal and syncronized tremelo system and custom contour body all on the headstock, but no serial number or made in Mexico on it. I must mention also that the fretboard has been scalloped, so, maybe in the process of stripping the finish to do the scalloping on the fretboard, they removed the serial number. However, the other decals were apparantly put back on after the scalloping.
If anyone has heard of a stratocaster with no serial number or has any idea what happened here, Please Respond!

The serial number has been removed or its not a fender neck. Fender do not make guitars without a serial number.
