New guy here looking for some expert advise. :? I'm looking at a MIM strat in a surf green color made in 2003-2004. Guitar is in excellant shape with no nicks or scratches and comes with a freedom hard case. Does anyone have an idea of what would be a fair price for it?

Is it a Classic 50's? If so, probably $400-500 (usd) depending on condition. Maybe less if you're good at low balling. But then again, it depends what model it is.

Welcome to the forum my friend! I'm just guessing but in the $250 to $350 price range. I'm sure there are more MIM strat owners here on the forum that can give you a better estimate. :)

That was my initial guess-timate, but considering the price increase, you never know what people are gonna start asking for them.

Hi xaman, welcome to the Forum.

Like this one, I'm guessing, only in the (not pictured) Surf Green option?

http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0131002340

A quick Google tells me that one is retailing for around $800 new at present. So off the top of my head, perhaps $300 - 600 "pre-owned", depending on condition?

What's it being offered for, do you mind telling us?

Cheers - C

The guy is asking 500 for it now. It has the tinted maple neck and looks like the 57' re-issue

Then if it's a MIM it's the Classic '50s Strat for sure. Sounds like a reasonable price if the condition's good. Not a knock-down bargain, but fair.

Thanks for all the replies, I will see if he wants to barter a bit. I would post the pics of it but I'm kind of challenged in that matter......

[Saturday] Hi again xaman: probably too late for this, but Forum user Kong has posted pics of his 2004 MIM Classic '60s Strat which he just bought for $300:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... hp?t=20098

Although the one you are looking at is the '50s reissue model they are from the same place in the catalog, the same year and were the same price new.

Suddenly $500 is perhaps sounding a little on the high side for the Surf Green one you are looking at...?

Cheers - C

Between $400 - $600 would be nice price. I got one and they are sweet.
