I'm thinking of buying a strat but I have a problem. What I understad you
should buy the exakt same guitar that you played and not buy the same model over the internet becuse the guitars are a little different. But here's the problem. I live in Sweden and you can get for example a American strat dlx for about 2050 dollars. But if I buy the guitar from Germany a can get it for about 1500 dollars but then I can't play it. What should i do?

Make sure that the company you are buying from online has a return policy.
Most decent online companies will offer a 30 day return policy if for some reason you are not satisfied with the guitar.

ya i'd agree. normally i really stress playing the exact guitar guitar before you buy it but with that much of a price difference i would do that and make sure there is a 30-day return (also ask your store if they will match the cheaper price. it's worth a shot)

Exactly. To save that much money, I would definetly give ordering a shot.

I buy online all the time becasue guitars in australia are 3-4 times the costfor the same guitar in the usa, example Eric Johnson is $1500 USD here in australia it retails for $4599 or $4300 USD, so I play the one at the local shop ask them for a best price and could buy two EJ and have chang left over, its risky but so far I have had no issues buying froma good reliable source in the usa...

I've bought a few guitars on eBay and my experience has been very good. Maybe I was just lucky.

well I gess that I just have to call or email the guys in Germany and ask if they have a 30 days regret period and how much it costs to send it back. If the wood for example would be more(or less) moist then the guitar I tried would the guitar have a big diffrent i tone?

Being Left Handed I have only bought 1 guitar after actually taking it down off the wall and playing it. All the rest of the 60+ plus guitars I have ever owned (since 2000) have been bought sight unseen.

Have you ever experienced any problem with the guitar you have bought unseen then? Did you feel that some of them did'nt sound or played as good later when you tryed the same modell for example in a store or a friends exact same modell?

I have over 1100 eBay transactions and buy online from from the online divisions of brick-and-mortar authorized dealers all the time. A factory warranty is just as good for an instrument delivered to your door as it is for one you drive all ofer the county to find and pick up in person. Some gear is just not available locally. My Takamine EF417S only exists in 60 copies worldwide, for instance. Just read the return policy and any FAQs sites like eBay offer for new buyers. Oh, did I mention, there's no sales tax for online buyers in many cases when the seller does not have an outlet in the buyer's state.

Thank's you been very helpful. But no one has answerd my question about diffrent sound between the same model? If there is a differens is it often big and can it just depend of the setup?

No two guitars will sound exactly the same.

There are other threads here and at other guitar sites that explore this question with pages and pages of well-thought-out responses. The conclusion is always, pretty much, that for solid-body electric guitars, little of the sound is driven by the slight differencs in the specific boards used in it's construction or the finish used to proctect it. Given the same mechanical setup to factory specifications and amplifier, most of the tone comes from the choice and pattern of pickups used, the choice of strings, and the style of the player.

So, the short answer to your question is there would be no difference in sound between the same models within the typical human hearing range.

IF you were asking about an acoustic guitar, the answer would be different, and vary from model to model, maker by maker.
