hey you guys,
i just have a few questions about this guitar my dad used to have. it is my favorite guitar ever. it was just a standard style strat but all the electronics had been replaced by mike lull with his stuff and he also but in van zandt pickups (the best pickups ever). it sounds F ing amazing. it had a really nice neck to which i noticed had 22 frets not 21. it was nice and big, more like a les paul neck then a strat neck. origionaly the guitar had a floyd (it came from the factory that way i think) but mike filled in the hole and put in a regular strat trem. the only other thing i know is that it was made in 1983 (i think, i'm not positive though).
so do any of you guys know about these models or have one. i heard some where that the body might be made out of basewood, which could be why it has such a unique tone. and also the actual name of the origional model would be nice if any one knows.

the reason i'm asking all of this in case anyones wondering is because i would like to remake the guitar from parts cause it was so awesome. but i would need to know what the bpdy was made of first.

thanks
nikko

P.S. sorry for any miss spellings.

the body WAS most likely Basswood. With out serial #'s the odds of your getting an idea of a model type or any other detailed info are not good. If it helps though, lots of mij's were re-issues although yours sounds more like a HM type. Good Luck!

i may be able to get the serial number, it is currently in my dads studio because his friend who bought it from him has been playing in there alot and just has his equipment set up in there (which means i get to play my favorite guitar!!!). i will call my dad tonight and ask him if he can check the serial number for me.

to bad he couldn't have just kept the ratocaster. stupid economy >:[
